Zoir Mirzaev, the mayor of Tashkent region in Uzbekistan, criticized the situation with housing construction in the region during a meeting on July 17, as reported by the regional administration's press service.
According to the project for the construction of residential complexes called "New Uzbekistan" in Tashkent region, 59 houses with 3,088 apartments are planned to be built in Chirchik, Almalyk, and Nurafshan. However, the projects are falling behind schedule, and the process of selling houses lacks transparency, stated the governor.
He highlighted that in the "Iftihor" mahalla in Chirchik, five consecutive organizations have completed construction work in 20 houses.
The work has been completed by 49%. "I personally visited these houses. It's not a construction site, it's like a monkey house. Nobody has been there, neither the governor nor the sector leaders - said Zoir Mirzaev.
The governor contacted the governor of Chirchik, Davron Khidoyatov, through a communication link, but he was absent. Instead, his deputy responded, whom the head of the region immediately interrupted and instructed to dismiss the deputy governor of Chirchik responsible for construction matters.
The governor of the region stated that there is a corrupt scheme in place during the sale of houses in Chirchik.
Responsible people for construction are taking bribes. In Chirchik, people have lost trust that they can directly buy housing. There is no demand from construction organizations. Mayor of Chircjik Davron Khidoyatov showed me once a house allegedly completed at 85-90%, but in reality, it is not even 50% complete. When we went up to the fifth floor for the first time, Mr. Davron Khidoyatov was speechless due to the terrible condition of the house and could not deceive anyone,- Zoir Mirzaev stated.
The governor referred to the leaders responsible for providing housing to the population as "unscrupulous." He questioned their work in Chirchik, asking what other tasks they have. He emphasized that everything is being done with state funds. He expressed his complete dissatisfaction with the leaders of the four sectors in Chirchik, stating that none of them show initiative, introduce innovations, or attract sponsors.
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced the construction of "New Uzbekistan" residential complexes across the country in November 2021. The plan was to build over 250,000 apartments within five years.
