The Embassy of the Russian Federation reported that the Russian government has decided to allocate $15 million for the implementation of the third phase of the project aimed at developing the school feeding system in Kyrgyzstan.
The project is designed within the framework of the United Nations World Food Programme for the period from 2023 to 2026. Russia has also participated in the previous stages of the project from 2013 to 2023, during which $22 mn was allocated.
Russian diplomatic mission's data shows that this project enables 200,000 children in the country to receive hot school meals. Additionally, within the program, repairs and modern kitchen equipment were provided for 850 canteens in secondary educational institutions. Furthermore, 4,000 tons of fortified wheat flour were delivered. An essential aspect of the project is the creation of 3,000 job opportunities for school cooks and kitchen staff.
This project significantly improves the nutrition of schoolchildren in Kyrgyzstan and ensures their access to proper and balanced food.
