The State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan has asserted that neither the Kyrgyz government nor state-owned entities have violated the sanctions imposed on Russia by the United States and several Western nations. However, there are concerns that private companies might be involved in such violations, prompting the institution to initiate an investigation into the matter, 24.kg reports.
The official statement emphasizes the commitment of Kyrgyzstan's state structures and companies to adhere to the sanctions imposed by the U.S. and Western countries against Russia. Prime Minister Okilbek Japarov reinforced this stance during an interview with Interfax, stating that there is no basis for applying sanctions against Russia for violations.
He highlighted the measures taken to prevent the export of goods in breach of the sanctions, emphasizing transparency in the border crossing process and tracking of goods to ensure compliance.
Discussions regarding the potential increase in exports and the circumvention of sanctions by Kyrgyzstan have taken place with representatives of Western delegations.
However, specific allegations made by The Washington Post on July 19, claiming that the United States is taking economic measures against Kyrgyzstan for allegedly supplying Chinese drones to Russia, have intensified the scrutiny of Kyrgyzstan's involvement in sanctions violations.
