President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a law aimed at improving the activities of the State Audit Chamber in Uzbekistan, Norma news has reported.
Under the amendments, the State Audit Chamber is granted the authority to issue administrative protocols for minor embezzlement and violations of legislation on public procurement, while the Ministry of Economy and Finance's State Financial Control bodies are responsible for minor embezzlement cases.
Additionally, the State Audit Chamber is required to publish information on its work plans for the fiscal year on its website during the first month of the financial year. Furthermore, it is obligated to disclose information on identified financial violations on a quarterly basis.
The State Audit Chamber is also mandated to report on its activities to the public at least once per quarter, with the participation of media representatives, as stated in the announcement.
Previously, the State Audit Chamber had the authority to issue administrative protocols for three violations: budgetary and staffing discipline violations, hindering the transparency of the budget process, and obstructing the lawful activities of the State Audit Chamber.
