A bride in the Sarpul region of Afghanistan took her own life after being married for over a month, "Daryo" correspondent in Afghanistan reports.
The local police, affiliated with the Taliban, stated that the girl had celebrated her wedding without the presence of the groom. The incident occurred in the village of "Zanjon" in the Sancharak district, where the 19-year-old bride used a gun to shoot herself on July 4. However, the exact reason behind her decision has not been disclosed.
The bride had gotten married forty days prior to the incident.
Earlier, it was reported that a 60-year-old Taliban official married an 18-year-old girl by paying a significant amount of money.
Restrictions on women in Afghanistan
In Afghanistan, women face various prohibitions, such as being prohibited from working in UN offices, men being forbidden from designing clothing for women, women being unable to consult male doctors or visit hospitals alone, and restrictions on their access to amusement parks.
Additionally, families and women are not allowed to enter restaurants with parks or green areas, and advertisements featuring female voices are prohibited in Afghanistan.
