Recently released statistics have revealed that during the 1Q2023, over 1.4mn administrative offenses were registered in Uzbekistan, representing approximately 4% of the country's population.
Traffic violations were the most common, accounting for over half (762,000) of the total. Other notable categories of offenses included administrative order (over 201,000), public order (over 142,000), trade and entrepreneurship (over 97,000), and healthcare (over 84,000).
Within three months, the city of Tashkent had the highest count of administrative violations, totaling over 190,000 offenses. The Tashkent region was also recorded with over 181,000 violations, while the Fergana, Samarkand, Kashkadarya, Andijan, and Namangan regions each had over 100,000 violations.
Besides, there have been over 500,000 road transport violations related to seven specific articles of the Criminal Code. Over 290,000 drivers have received administrative reports for blatant disregarding road rules, including driving on sidewalks and ignoring traffic signals. Misuse of vehicles has been reported over 150,000 times as a common offense. Additionally, pedestrians and other road users have reported more than 30,000 violations during this period.
Other administrative offenses include violating passport system rules, petty hooliganism, consuming alcohol in public places, disobeying legal requirements of internal affairs bodies, and violating sanitary laws and regulations for fighting epidemics. The number of other violations not disclosed in the statistics was also significant, with over 622,980 individuals charged with administrative responsibility over the reporting period.
Earlier, Daryo reported that Uzbekistan's capital Tashkent last year registered 1,200 traffic accidents which claimed the lives of 136 people. 1,463 people got injured to varying degrees of severity.
