Uzbekistan's electricity consumption has exceeded last year's figures. The reason behind this surge in electricity usage has been attributed to an unprecedented heat wave. Reportedly, this information has been verified by the press service of the Ministry of Energy.
On June 16, 2023, the amount of electricity consumed in the Central Asian country reached 242.6mn kWh, a 16.6% increase from the previous year's usage of 208mn kWh on the same day.
The hourly consumption reached 11,301 MV, which is 18.9% more compared to the same day last year, amounting to an increase of 1,800 MV. This also marks a new record, surpassing the maximum recorded the previous summer by 500 MV.
Additionally, daily electricity production reached 233.7mn kWh, surpassing last year's record by 36.6mn kWh (18.6%).
