As per a recent presidential decree, the position of adviser on transport issues will be introduced in a number of Uzbek embassies abroad, the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan reported.
The following was established under the Ministry of Transport:
- Transport Control Inspection;
- Institute of Retraining and Advanced Training of Personnel in the Transport Sector;
- Interdepartmental Council for the Development of Transit Potential in Uzbekistan.
The Transport Control Inspection serves as an executive body responsible for overseeing various transportation modes such as road, railway, water, electric transport, metro, and road management. The following powers are given to the transport control inspection to perform its tasks:
- consideration of cases related to administrative offenses and application of administrative penalties in the field of cargo and passenger transportation, railway, water, electric transport, metro, and road management ;
- authority to halt motor vehicles for inspection at stationary and mobile checkpoints if violations of cargo and passenger transportation regulations are detected through visual observation or specialized devices.
The newly introduced position of adviser on transport issues will be present in the Uzbek embassies located in China, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Iran, and Latvia.
By September 1, 2023, a draft decision will be developed to introduce carrier ratings. This initiative seeks to elevate the quality of services offered by public transport providers, making them more appealing to the public. Furthermore, the implementation of carrier ratings will create healthy competition among transport service providers, resulting in improved standards across the sector.
