On June 16, Kyrgyzstan President Sadyr Japarov met with Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas to discuss bilateral cooperation and strengthen ties between the two nations, AKIpress reported.
Prior to his visit to Kyrgyzstan, Mahmud Abbas had a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing, during which three proposals were put forth to address the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. This diplomatic engagement underscored the importance of finding a peaceful resolution to the long-standing dispute.
During the talks between Japarov and Abbas, both leaders emphasized the significance of mutual cooperation and the development of joint partnerships. Kyrgyzstan expressed its desire to enhance friendly relations with Palestine and collaborate on areas of common interest.
Japarov specifically mentioned the country's dedication to strengthening ties with the Arab world and reaffirmed Kyrgyzstan's unwavering support for Palestine on the international stage. The nation is actively engaged in promoting cooperation between Palestine and other nations through forums such as the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
President Japarov also took the opportunity to commend the official visit of Riyad Al-Maliki, the Foreign Minister of Palestine, to Kyrgyzstan in August. The high-level visit further strengthened the bilateral relations between the two countries, paving the way for increased cooperation in various fields.
In response, Mahmud Abbas expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and praised Kyrgyzstan as a brotherly and friendly country to Palestine. He acknowledged the nation's support and commitment to the Palestinian cause.
Furthermore, leader Mahmoud Abbas stated that Palestine is ready to open its embassy in Kyrgyzstan, fostering deeper diplomatic ties between the two nations. Moreover, he expressed willingness to establish a Palestinian international cooperation agency to further facilitate collaboration with Kyrgyzstan.
