The daughter of the President of Uzbekistan, Saida Mirziyoyeva congratulated the participants and winners of the first international Chemistry Olympiad.
The inaugural International Chemistry Olympiad, named after the renowned scholar Abu Rayhan Beruni, concluded in Khiva with great success. The event witnessed the participation of a talented young generation, showcasing their knowledge and skills in the field of chemistry. Saida Mirziyoyeva expressed her congratulations to all the participants, winners, and champions of the Olympiad.
The Ministry of Preschool and School Education of Uzbekistan disclosed that 130 schoolchildren from Uzbekistan and 16 foreign countries such as Turkey, Azerbaijan, India, Vietnam, Algeria, Brazil, Germany, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Oman took part in the prestigious Olympiad.
This International Olympiad was held among teenagers aged 15-18 years in two rounds to evaluate their knowledge and potential through written and practical laboratory work. The jury panel consisted of academicians, professors, and experienced specialists from both Uzbekistan and foreign countries.
Reflecting on the success of the Olympiad, Saida Mirziyoyeva attributed it to the efforts of her father, the President of Uzbekistan, and his emphasis on science and the value of scientists.
“It is no coincidence that such prestigious international Olympiads are held in our country. Through the efforts of our President, the attitude towards science and the people of science has changed, and the value of scientists has begun to recover. New requirements are made to education, the whole system is being updated. Young people who took part in the Olympiad will become an example for all their peers” - she said on her telegram channel.
The event also welcomed a distinguished guest, Professor Johann Plank, a member of the German Chemical Society and a renowned figure in the field of chemistry. Professor Plank has worked for many years as the director of the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry at the Technical University of Munich and currently holds a professorship at the Asian Technical University of Munich in Singapore. He is an honorary member of prestigious scientific associations such as the German Chemical Society, the German Society for the Study of Oil and Coal, and the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
The International Chemistry Olympiad in Uzbekistan served as an essential preparatory stage for the national team, gearing up for the upcoming International Olympiad in Switzerland. The event, scheduled to take place from July 16th to July 25th, will provide an opportunity for Uzbekistan's talented chemists to compete on an international stage and further enhance their knowledge and skills.
