The first wind turbine was completed as part of the development of a 500 MW wind power facility in the Tomdi area of the Navoi region. This was stated at the Ministry of Energy's press tour on June 13, Daryo correspondent reports.
The first 4.7 MW wind turbine of "Goldwind" company (People's Republic of China) was installed within the framework of this large project, which is being built by the "Masdar" company of the United Arab Emirates. Its height is 97 metres, and each of its wings is 77 metres.
Abdullajon Otaboev, director of the Ministry of Energy's Department said that 111 wind turbines will be installed as part of this project.
"The first capacities of this station will be commissioned at the end of this year, and it is Central Asia's largest wind power station. When fully operating, the station will generate 1 billion 800mn kWh of power per year. As a result, 540mn cubic metres of natural gas will be preserved each year, and 720,000 tons of dangerous gases will not be emitted into the atmosphere," Abdullajon Otaboev stated.
He went on to say that if the project is completed, half a million families will have access to energy.
