The movement of freight trains has been launched through the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan multimodal transport route, The Ministry of Transport's press service reports.
In order to implement the agreements reached within the framework of the Central Asia-China summit held in Xi'an, the Zhejiang Union of Railway Logistics company, "Uzbekistan Railways" JSC and the national company "Kyrgyz Temir Zholu," in cooperation with the enterprise launched the movement of block trains consisting of 30 containers from the Landjou Station to Tashkent.
The first test train was launched on June 9 in order to promote cargo transportation along the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan multimodal transport route.
The total value of the train, which includes solar panels, mechanical equipment, carpets, and other goods worth $2.5 mn is scheduled to arrive in Tashkent within 15 days from the city of Landjou in China.
The construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project was discussed and agreed upon by the representatives of the three countries during the SCO summit held in Samarkand in September 2022. The technical and economic foundations of the railway project were prepared on April 29, 2023. On May 19, three-sided documents were signed on the construction of the railway.
During the Central Asia-China summit held in Xi'an on May 19, Shavkat Mirziyoyev stated, ” The development of safe and shortest transport corridors connecting China with our region, leading to Europe, the Middle East, and Africa is of strategic importance. "The Trans-Eurasian highway project is of priority in the restoration of the Great Silk Road, and the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan road and railway will be an integral part of it," he continued.
