Residents of Tashkent have been using public transport more frequently. The Ministry of Transport's press service reports that this is due to the renovation of buses, which has resulted in an increase of 63% in daily transportation.
In May 2023, 1,330 buses per day traveled on the routes, compared to 806 buses used daily in May 2022, representing a 40% increase.
Additionally, separate lines for buses have been introduced in the Uzbek capital, and the creation of bus lanes on 73 streets is expected to increase the average speed of buses by 1.5 times.
Earlier, Uzbekistan acquired buses from China
Furthermore, Uzbekistan has completed the purchase of 1,000 buses from China, with 300 of them running on electricity and the remainder using compressed natural gas. The first 400 buses have already been delivered to Tashkent and are now in service to develop interregional routes.
