Ambassador of Uzbekistan, Abat Fayzullayev, recently met with Michael Spindelegger, the Director General of the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) and former Foreign Minister of Austria, to discuss the prospects of employing interested individuals from Uzbekistan in European countries and establishing a safe, organized, and legal labor migration system for foreign workers.
Reportedly, the Austrian delegation was apprised of the recent reforms in Uzbekistan, particularly those pertaining to foreign labor migration policies. Michael Spindelegger also shared his positive experience during his visit to Uzbekistan last September, where he gained insight into the activities of the "Ishga marhamat" mono-center of the Ministry of Labor for National Employment and Vocational Education, and commended the measures taken by the Uzbek government to increase citizens' engagement and vocational training, as well as ensuring employment opportunities.
Michael Spindelegger expressed his appreciation for the memorandum of understanding signed between the Agency for Foreign Labour Migration and ICMPD, seeing it as a positive step towards expanding bilateral relations.
The decision was taken to establish a Migrant Resource Centre (MRC) in Tashkent, which would provide relevant information to Uzbek citizens seeking to work in European countries.
