At a recent business forum held during President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's visit to Italy, JSC 'Thermal Power Stations' and the Italian credit agency 'SACE' signed three significant agreements and a memorandum, Dunyo reports.
The Ministry of Energy has announced that four large projects will be undertaken at a total cost of €2,263.3mn. These include the modernization of Tashkent TES, the construction of gas piston plants and water heating boilers in six districts of the capital, and the construction of 24 gas piston plants and four hot water boilers with a capacity of 130 MW each in the Yunusabad district's heating plant.
The memorandum also aims to provide the capital with additional thermal and electrical energy by installing cogeneration capacity in several heat centers.
The main objective of these projects is to ensure a stable supply of quality electrical and thermal energy to consumers. The modernization agreement specifically focuses on increasing the existing capacity of Tashkent TPP by 990 MW through the efficient combustion of natural gas in the combined cycle using modern steam-gas plants. The project will also introduce highly efficient technologies to improve indicators and ensure reliable electricity supply to industrial and residential areas in the Tashkent region. The project's cost is €544.5mn and aims to develop the social sphere of the region further and create new employment opportunities. Various options were evaluated to attract investors, international banks, and financial institutions.
The Italian credit agency 'SACE' was selected to finance the projects. One of the primary financing conditions was that Italian companies would participate in the projects as general contractors. Alisher Juraev, Head of the Department of International Relations and Investment Attraction of JSC 'Thermal Power Plants,' confirmed this.
