Reports from India reveal that many parts of the country suffer from poor road maintenance, and a recent incident in a village in the state of Maharashtra has sparked outrage among local residents, media reports.
The villagers were promised a repaired road, but what they got instead was a carpet that looked like asphalt. The construction company responsible claimed to have used the "latest German technology," but upon closer inspection, it was discovered that the road was covered with thin asphalt chips.
A video of the villagers lifting the carpet from the road with their bare hands quickly went viral on Twitter. Now angry residents are calling for the construction company and engineers responsible to be held accountable for their actions.
