Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian President, asserted that the Russian nuclear industry has proven its "leading position" despite intense competition and will continue to do so in the future.
Peskov's remarks were made in response to statements from the United Kingdom and the United States expressing their intention to compete with Russia in the atomic energy market.
"We are strong enough. Our nuclear industry is ready to continue to prove its advantages to those interested in cooperation," said Mr. Peskov during a conversation with journalists.
He also states that the Russian nuclear industry's competitiveness has been forged under challenging conditions in the global market. It is through this competition that the industry has established its prominent position.
He emphasized the strength of the Russian nuclear sector and its readiness to showcase its advantages to potential partners interested in cooperation.
Earlier reports indicated that "Rosatom" inked an agreement for the construction of Uzbekistan's first nuclear power plant. And the company is also planning to build a small nuclear power plant in Kyrgyzstan this year.
Russian official Gennady Sakharov highlighted the expansion into countries lacking nuclear culture or legislation, stating that Russia would assist in establishing nuclear infrastructure, legislation, and training for personnel in these nations.
