An explosion took place at a missile production facility owned by the MKE defense machinery and chemical enterprise in Ankara on the morning of June 10. The Turkish Ministry of Defense confirmed that five workers lost their lives in the incident.
The Ministry of Defense released a statement regarding the explosion at the MKE missile and explosives factory in the Elmadag district of Ankara, stating that an investigation, both judicial and administrative, has been initiated in response to the incident.
The factory is situated in the Elmadag District, away from residential areas, although the sound of the explosion was reportedly heard by nearby residents, as reported by Cumhuriyet newspaper. TRT Haber TV channel mentioned that some of the victims were transported to the hospital in critical condition.
Emergency personnel, including firefighters and medical professionals, promptly arrived at the site. According to CNN Turk, the fire has been successfully extinguished, but the exact cause of the explosion has not yet been disclosed.
