In Colombia, a remarkable discovery was made when four children were located in the country's forests, having survived a plane crash involving a single-engine Cessna 206 that occurred 40 days prior.
The President of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, shared the news of the children's rescue, describing it as a joyous occasion for the entire nation. In a tweet, he expressed, "It is a moment of happiness for the entire country. Four children who went missing 40 days ago have been found alive in the Colombian jungles."
The Colombian army also shared a photo on Twitter, showing the survivors alongside soldiers. Reports from El Tiempo indicate that the children endured hardships such as dehydration and insect bites. They were discovered by a joint search effort of soldiers and local residents.
Notably, one of the children celebrated their first birthday after the accident, while the others are aged 4, 9, and 13, according to El Tiempo. The ill-fated plane originally carried a total of seven individuals. In mid-May, the bodies of three adults were discovered in the forest, adding to the tragic outcome of the incident.
