During an unnounced trip to Ukraine, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau pledged additional military assistance to Kyiv, CTV reports.
According to CTV, Canada plans to send 288 AIM-7 missiles and 10,000 105-millimeter caliber shells to Ukraine. Additionally, they will provide training Ukrainian pilots in operating Western military aircraft.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's visit commenced with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Memorial Wall in the Mikhailov Monastery, paying tribute to those who lost their lives during the Russian invasion. Trudeau also held a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi and delivered a speech at the Verkhovna Rada for as long as 25 minutes.
"We will stand by you for as long as it takes," he assured the Ukrainian leader in a video released by Kyiv authorities.
This marks Trudeau's second visit to Ukraine since the onset of the war, with his previous visit occurring in May 2022.
Canada, a NATO member with a significant Ukrainian diaspora, has been providing military and financial aid to Kyiv since the Russian invasion in February 2022.
