The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation in Uzbekistan has announced that over 3,000 graduates from academic lyceums have been awarded national certificates in foreign languages in 2023, their press service reports.
Following the foreign language proficiency tests administered by the Agency for the Assessment of Knowledge and Skills in May, a total of 3,248 second-stage academic lyceum students achieved national certificates at levels B1, B2, and C1.
Specifically, 1,579 students obtained B1 certificates, 1,504 received B2 certificates, and 165 were awarded C1 certificates. This represents a five-fold increase compared to the 2020/2021 academic year and more than double the number from the 2021/2022 academic year.
Applicants possessing a national or foreign certificate at B2 level or higher will be awarded the maximum points specified for the relevant subject without having to take exams during the next stage of education, such as when applying to higher education institutions.
