The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, has announced plans to launch solar and wind power plants with a capacity of 2,000 megawatts in 2023.
During a presentation on introducing renewable energy sources in social institutions and government agencies, officials provided information on the work implementation.
While 107 megawatts of solar panels have been installed to date, the installation of renewable energy sources in Tashkent remains at 26% compared to the plan. Therefore, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the need to accelerate the work and take advantage of available opportunities.
The plans for solar and wind power plants with a capacity of 2,000 megawatts to be put into operation in 2023. And the recent agreement between Uzbekistan and China on constructing 11 solar and wind farms with a total capacity of 4.8 gigawatts worth $4.4bn is a significant step forward.
The aspects of organizing the implementation of these agreements were also discussed at the meeting.
In mid-May, the government passed a decision regarding implementing a new system for green energy certificates designed to authorize the production of 1000 kWh of electricity, managed by the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
