The owner of Twitter, Elon Musk, invited all the candidates who will run for the presidency of the United States in the 2024 elections to his platform.
"We welcome all presidential candidates to this platform!" - he wrote.
Meanwhile, as Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announces his candidacy, technical glitches on the platform are reportedly causing a lot of jokes.
For example, U.S. President Joe Biden wrote on Twitter during the crisis that "This link works" and attached a link to an account that collects donations for his election campaign.
Desantis' main Republican opponent, former President Donald Trump, called his statement a "disaster."
"The launch of Desantis' campaign on Twitter is a DISASTER! His entire election campaign will be a disaster. WATCH," he wrote on the Telegram channel.
Twitter blocked Donald Trump's account "for life" due to tweets about the attack on the Capitol in 2021. However, Musk, who bought Twitter in 2022, restored Trump's account. But Trump has not yet started running it.
The governor of Florida officially announced his candidacy for the presidency of the United States on May 24.
"I'm running for president to lead America's great comeback," Desantis said in a voice chat with Twitter owner Musk.
At the beginning of the event, there were sound interruptions for more than 20 minutes. Musk explained this by "server overload".
Twitter's mobile app crashed and users complained that they couldn't hear the chat. According to discussion moderator David Sacks, the glitches may have been caused by an increase in users who wanted to join in listening to the chat.
