Alexander Lukashenko explained that he did not appear in public for several days due to adenovirus infection.
"Those who think I'm going to die, calm down. This is nothing but nonsense on messengers and Telegram channels. Adenovirus," said Lukashenko.
Lukashenko also said that adenovirus infection is usually "cured in three days", but he could not get treatment in time because he was busy. His trips to Moscow, Grodno, and Gomel were planned.
"I'm not dying. "You will suffer with me for a long time," he said.
The President of Belarus reportedly did not appear in public from May 9 to May 15. On Victory Day, he attended a parade in Moscow and a wreath-laying ceremony in Minsk but missed other protocol events. On May 14, he did not participate in the celebration of the day of the flag, coat of arms, and anthem of Belarus. "Zerkalo", the largest independent publication of Belarus, assessed the situation as "unusual". Heated discussions began on social networks about the deterioration of the health of the head of Belarus and even his death. On May 15, Lukashenko made a public appearance during a visit to the command post of the Central Air Force.
