The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that the rainy season in Afghanistan could lead to an increase in dengue fever cases, media reports.
The WHO has taken action by training 300 medical professionals from various hospitals and medical institutions in Kunar, Laghman, Nuristan, and Nangarhar. Additionally, a three-day training course on dengue management was conducted for 65 female health workers in 12 groups.
The WHO urges the population to protect themselves and their families from mosquito bites to prevent the spread of dengue fever.
Dengue fever is an acute viral disease that causes fever, intoxication, myalgia, arthralgia, rash, and lymph node enlargement. It can develop into a severe form with a mortality rate of up to 50%. In addition, re-infection is common, so prevention is crucial.
