During an international Summit for Democracy in Copenhagen, Ahmad Massoud, the leader of the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan, expressed his concerns about Afghanistan becoming a hub for regional and international terrorism.
He highlighted that under Taliban rule, Afghanistan has become a focal point for thousands of terrorists who pose a significant threat to the region and the world. Massoud pointed out the existence of over 20 terrorist groups operating in Afghanistan.
Ahmad Massoud appealed to the international community, urging them to support the people of Afghanistan. He proposed a condition for recognizing the Taliban government, stating that the power and system should be determined by the people through elections. If the Taliban come to power through a democratic process, he would accept them.
The National Resistance Front has been engaged in a conflict with the Taliban since September 2021. Initially composed of Afghan government military personnel who had faced defeats from the Taliban and local militias in the Panjsher province, the resistance front continues its fight against the Taliban regime.
