The government of Uzbekistan plans to contribute $100,000 to the fund of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in 2023. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev made this decision in a decree issued on May 12.
According to the media, Uzbekistan has voluntarily contributed to OHCHR on multiple occasions in recent years. Notably, in 2021, the country made a considerable contribution of $100,000, which coincided with its election as a member of the UN Human Rights Council for a three-year term.
Additionally, Uzbekistan has made notable contributions in 2018, which marked the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and 2008, which marked the 60th anniversary of the declaration.
