The Indian government is embarking on a long-term diplomatic effort to retrieve numerous valuable artifacts taken to Britain during the colonial era, The Telegraph reports.
Indian officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the diplomatic corps are actively involved in this initiative. According to sources cited by the publication, this could be the largest demand for the return of artifacts ever made by the UK.
Among the objects that India seeks to recover is the famous Kohinoor diamond. The return process is expected to commence in the current year. In a separate report, it was noted that scientists have uncovered various ancient artificial water bodies and artifacts up to two thousand years old in the Bandhavgarh National Park in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.
