John Kirby, the White House Strategic Communications Coordinator for the National Security Council says that regardless of whether the US defaults on its financial obligations, it continues to be capable to give assistance to Ukraine through the conclusion of the fiscal year, which is on September 30.
At a press conference, Kirby was questioned if the US was going to continue to help Ukraine if it defaulted. He said that this is going to be determined by the funds appropriated by Congress last year and that the US will still spend these funds until the fiscal year ended.
The present-day state debt of the US is $31.4 trillion, and the Treasury Department is implementing urgent steps since the loan ceiling has been surpassed or a default may be proclaimed.
The administration has requested Congress to raise the national debt cap, but Republicans, who govern the House of Representatives, are unwilling. They are not opposed to raising the national debt ceiling but feel that it is only feasible if the government cuts spending. regardless of whether the United States defaults on its financial obligations, it continues to be capable to give assistance to Ukraine through the conclusion of the fiscal year, which is on September 30.
