Germany will supply Ukraine with $2.7bn in military weapons, the largest-ever aid shipment Berlin has handed to Kyiv after the outbreak of the war, Der Spiegel reports.
30 "Leopard 1" tanks, 20 "Marder" army combat vehicles, 15 "Chepard" autonomous anti-aircraft cannons, 200 surveillance drones, four IRIS-T SLM air defense systems, 18 wheeled howitzers, and 100 armored vehicles are included in the deal.
The package was produced in conjunction with the awarding of the worldwide prize titled Charlemagne to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during covert meetings between several ministries and departments of the federal chancellor.
The US has also declared that it will offer Ukraine $1.2bn in strategic help, whereas the EU has handed Ukraine $16bn in assistance.
