Kazakhstan is pursuing a plan to expand its transport corridors until 2025, including constructing a dry port near the Chinese border. With this in mind, a new railway line will be built, running from Ayagoz to Bakhty and then to Tacheng in a North-South direction.
Reportedly, Abai region's governor, Nurlan Urankhaev, has confirmed that the dry port and logistics base will be established in the area, along with the railway line. The strategic move aims to increase freight transport flow between Kazakhstan and China and strengthen bilateral trade and economic ties.
The dry port and railway line construction is set to commence in Q42023. The number of cargoes passing through the line would increase to a minimum of 20 tons.
