On May 12, a momentous occasion transpired with the official opening ceremony of the Project Office for Coordination of the Implementation of the Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan Railway Construction Project in Tashkent.
The new office is set to coordinate joint measures to develop feasibility studies and expedite the practical implementation of the project.
All participants unanimously agreed that the event marks a significant step towards accelerating the practical implementation of the project.
Ismatulla Ergashev, the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan, cordially welcomed attendees with his opening remarks. He emphasized the consistent and productive work that has been carried out since 2018 by the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan. Ergashev also underscored that the opening of the Project Office is the subsequent stage of the parties' action to expedite the implementation of the project.
On May 11-12, regular trilateral talks were held to discuss issues related to accelerating the project implementation.
Reportedly, the qualitative performance of the project for constructing the railway Uzbekistan - Afghanistan - Pakistan will enable the long-term use of the route and preserve it for centuries.
