Gianni Infantino, the President of FIFA, is scheduled to visit Uzbekistan on May 5-6, the press service of the Uzbekistan Football Association informs.
This will be Infantino's first visit to Uzbekistan since becoming FIFA president. The purpose of the visit is to inspect the football infrastructure in Uzbekistan and to visit the national team base, "Dostlik," which is being set up in cooperation with FIFA. In addition, Infantino will hold meetings with UEFA officials.
Earlier, it was announced that Infantino will visit Tajikistan on May 1 to participate in the Congress of the Central Asian Football Association. It is likely that he will visit Uzbekistan after Tajikistan as part of his Central Asia trip.
The Central Asian Football Association competition, featuring national teams from the region, will be held in Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan from June 9-21.
