Turkmenistan took silver in Group A of the Hockey World Championship (Third Division) in Cape Town, South Africa.
The Ashgabat-based team defeated Thailand (6-3) and Luxembourg (4-1) at the tournament, losing to South Africa (6-9) and Taiwan (1-3).
Taiwan took the gold and South Africa the bronze.
The game of puck has been developed in sunny Ashgabat by presidential decree since 2011. Six years later, the national team won small gold medals in the second league tournament at the 2017 Asian Winter Games in Sapporo, Japan.
