A Russian "Su-34" military aircraft dropped an accidental bomb on the central part of Belgorod on the evening of Thursday, April 20, Al Jazeera reports.
"On April 20, during the flight of the "Su-34" aircraft of the Air Force over the city of Belgorod, an abnormal drop of aviation ammunition occurred. As a result, residential buildings were damaged and there were no casualties. Investigative efforts are currently underway," the Russian Ministry of Defense said.
Governor of Belgorod region Vyacheslav Gladkov gave information about the situation on his Telegram channel.
"There is an emergency in Belgorod. There was an explosion. According to preliminary information, there were no casualties. A huge fence with a radius of 20 meters appeared at the intersection of one of the central streets. The windows of a nearby residential building were broken, several parked cars were damaged as a result of the explosion, and power lines were knocked out," he wrote.
Gladkov later announced that two people were injured. Also, four apartments of the residential building on Shaladin Street were destroyed.
