Up to 20,000 people have reportedly escaped Sudan to avoid violence as the country's two opposition leaders, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo could not come to a peaceful agreement, The Guardian reports.
“There is no other option but the military solution. A real truce cannot be implemented in these conditions,” Bhutan said in an interview for Al Jazeera.
António Guterres, UN secretary general, asked both parties to establish a ceasefire over the Eid al-Fitr holiday to ensure that citizens can have safe movement between regions.
Almost 300 people have reportedly been killed and more injured in Khartoum, Sudan since April 15, when the fights first started.
