A male citizen in China was sentenced to six months in prison for scaring his neighbor's chickens to death with a lantern, leading to the deaths of 1,100 birds, CNN reports.
The individual was accused of willfully inflicting property damage on his neighbor by the court. Following a disagreement between the two neighbors, the accused person responded by sneaking into his neighbor's chicken farm at night and scaring the chickens with a flashlight. The offender was forced to pay compensation after the initial incursion killed 500 hens. However, he repeated the act, killing an additional 640 hens. The deceased chickens were expected to cost roughly 13,840 yuan in total. The crime took place in Hunan Province's Hengyang District Court in April 2022.
