Uzbekistan imports 389 electric cars in January

In January 2023, Uzbekistan imported 389 electric cars worth $13mn from abroad, the State Statistics Agency reports.

EVs were imported from 6 countries.

Imports of electric cars increased by 266 compared to the corresponding period in 2022. In December 2022, 268 electric cars were brought to the country.

Also, China is the leader among the countries in the import of electric cars to Uzbekistan in January of this year reaching 346 units out of 389.

Hong Kong was in second place with 29 electric cars, while Germany was third with 8 cars. 3 electric cars were brought from the UAE.

In 2022, 2,180 electric cars worth $69.8mn were imported from abroad. This is 1,371 more than the figure in 2021.

It was also reported that electric car production will be launched in Jizzakh this year.
