The traffic cameras have started recording a 60 km/h speed limit break which was downgraded from 70 in Uzbekistan. The Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan press service informs.
From June 1, the maximum speed limit in all towns, cities, and villages of the republic will be reduced from 70 kilometres per hour to 60 kilometres per hour. This is stated in the draft of the presidential decree on the implementation of the development strategy of New Uzbekistan for 2022-2026 announced for public discussion.
"According to the analysis, traffic accidents result in about 4,000 deaths per year. "Reducing the speed to 10 kilometres per hour will diminish the number of deaths by at least 15 per cent," the document says.
