On Monday (March 6), Turkmenistan's capital Ashgabat hosted a joint Turkmen-Uzbek commission on trade, economic, scientific-technical, and cultural cooperation, the country's Foreign Ministry reports. The two delegations were chaired by Turkmenistan's Deputy Prime Minister Batyr Atdaev and his Uzbek colleague Jamshid Khodjayev.
Reportedly, the meeting discussed cooperation priorities in transport, logistics, energy, chemicals, agroindustry, and the environment. A Protocol was inked at the end of the session.
Reportedly, Uzbekistan's total trade with Turkmenistan in 2022 reached $927mn, compared to $274mn in 2018. Turkmenistan sells gas, electricity, oil products, polymers, and cotton yarn and buys mineral fertilizers, vegetables, transport, and construction materials.
The two countries are exploring joint projects in car manufacturing, textiles, pharmaceuticals, and construction materials.
