On January 17, Russian President Vladimir Putin touched upon the cold temperature in some countries of Central Asia at a meeting dedicated to economic issues via a video conference. This was reported by "Kremlin.ru".
Putin asked the Prime Minister of Russia, Mikhail Mishustin, to ensure the financial results of the companies operating in the agro-industrial complex. He noted that it is not allowed to transport everything abroad. The Russian president emphasized that the country needs reserves.
"We do not know the result of agriculture in 2023. Look at what's happening now: the weather is warm in Europe. I spoke on the phone with the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdymukhamedov. The temperature there is -25 degrees, -23 in Uzbekistan. We cannot predict everything and what awaits us in future. That’s why we need reserves to be preserved," the Russian leader said.
Amid the adverse cold temperature that has been battering Central Asia, about eight thousand domestic animals died in Afghanistan. So far, 43 people have died in the republic due to anomalous cold. Among them are women and children.
