The prominent Soviet and Georgian actor and singer Vakhtang Kikabidze on Sunday (January 15) died at the age of 84 after a long illness.
Apart from being a veteran singer and songwriter, Kikabidze was acknowledged for his acting roles, particularly in the much-loved Soviet-era comedy Mimino, in which Vakhtang Kikabidze played a homesick Georgian pilot.
Vakhtang Kikabidze was born on 19 July 1938 in Tbilisi.
