The information portal of the CIS Executive Committee has published an article on the interaction of Uzbekistan with CIS member states. The report says that the Central Asian republic is currently developing cooperation with partners within the CIS in politics and security, economic and humanitarian spheres. It aims to develop a full-fledged free trade zone and strengthen transport interconnectedness in the CIS space.
Particular attention is drawn to joining efforts in implementing national programs and strategies aimed at deepening industrial cooperation and ensuring food, energy, and environmental security.
In recent years, Uzbekistan has stepped up its participation in CIS activities by signing over 40 multilateral agreements, and joining 23 sectoral bodies of the CIS.
Last year, Uzbekistan’s trade turnover with the CIS countries increased by a third, and more than 1,000 joint ventures were created.
The Central Asian country is determined to increase trade relations with CIS countries further, the report says.
