Shavkat Mirziyoyev has dismissed Timur Ishmetov, Minister of Finance of Uzbekistan, and appointed him as the first deputy adviser to the president on issues of development of economic sectors, investment and foreign trade policy implementation. This was reported by the press secretary of the president.
Timur Ishmetov (1979) was born in Tashkent. In 2000, he had graduated from the Tashkent Institute of Finance, before receiving his master’s degree from Birmingham University in International Money and Banking. Ishmetov also holds a degree from Tashkent Law University.
He started working as an economist at the Central Bank in 2000. Worked in various positions until April 2017. In particular, at different times he headed the Central Bank's Monetary Operations Department, International Reserve Management Department, Domestic Currency Market Operations, and Currency Management and Control Department.
He has been leading the Ministry of Finance since February 2020. Before that, he worked as the first deputy minister of finance.
