As 2023’s declared a Year of Caring for People and Quality Education in Uzbekistan, the government draws particular attention to ensuring that textbooks reach every pupil across the Central Asian country.
The Concept for the Development of the National Education System until 2030, approved by Presidential decree on 29 April 2019, defines tasks to improve the teaching methods. Measures have been taken to upgrade textbooks, including for 1-4 graders, designed to develop students' creative thinking along with critical and teamwork skills.
‘I have recently read a book authored by Elbek. He wrote that those who educate girls educate the whole society. And our textbooks do not take this factor into account. What I want to say is that we need to make our textbooks as perfect as possible so that we don’t have to return to this issue. The education system we are creating today will tell about us in forty years’, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev highlighted.
In the preparation of the new textbooks, the basic tasks of such international programs as PISA, PIRLS, TIMSS, EGMA, and EGRA were used. Along with textbooks, workbooks and teaching aids have been developed for teachers.
