Uzbek prominent film director Jakhongir Akhmedov is working on creating a historical movie on the life of Yalangtoʻsh Bahodir, who initiated the creation of the Registan Complex in Samarkand. However, the filming location is not in the historic city but in a renovated pavilion of Uzbekfilm Cinema Concern. According to film journalist Shoira Raufboyeva, almost 80% of the movie sets will be shot in the pavilion.
Such techniques are widely used in Hollywood films. They are not cheap, but quite handy’,
Shoira Raufboyeva added.
Director Jakhongir Akhmedov explained why he chose Yalangtoʻsh Bahodir as a movie character.
There is very little information about Yalangtoʻsh Bahodir. Many people do not even know that he constructed the Tilla Kori and Sherdor Madrasa at Registan Square in Samarkand. In consultation with the Institute of History, we searched for sources related to it. We co-authored the script with Hasan Tashkhojayev for a year’,
Jakhongir Akhmedov noted, adding that the photo and video casting procedure lasted about four months.
Stunt actors occupy a special place in historical films. With this in mind, cooperation was established with a team of stuntmen from Kazakhstan. Filming will continue until the summer of 2023. The premiere of the film is planned to be held in autumn.
