December 2. The Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Mishustin announced that the country is ready to increase the export of sunflower oil, confectionery products and wheat to Uzbekistan during the Uzbekistan-Russia businessmen's forum in Samarkand.
In January-October of this year, the volume of bilateral trade of agricultural and food products spiked by almost 40% and reached one and a half billion dollars.
"Russia is ready to increase the export of sunflower oil, confectionery products, and wheat, and there are proposals for other products," the head of the Russian government said.
From January-October 2022, 94.8% of wheat flour was imported by Kazakhstan which also remains the main sunflower oil seller to Uzbekistan.
In ten months of this year, Uzbekistan imported food products worth 680 million dollars from Russia. This is 107 million dollars more than in the same period last year.
