In 2022, Uzbekistan has exported a record number of watermelons - almost 2 times more than last year. This is reported by EastFruit.
The increase in the export was achieved by customs reliefs to Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
From the beginning of May to the end of November 2022, Uzbekistan exported 81,800 tons of watermelons worth 18.1 million dollars.
This is 1.9 times more than the same period in 2021 and 1.7 times more than the record indicator of the same period of 2020.
The volume of export to foreign markets given below:
- Kazakhstan - 42.4 thousand tons (51.8% of total watermelon export);
- Russia — 17.2 thousand tons (21 percent);
- Kyrgyzstan — 10.5 thousand tons (12.8 percent);
- Tajikistan — 9.6 thousand tons (11.7 percent);
- Belarus — 1.2 thousand tons (1.4 percent);
- Latvia — 674 tons (0.8 percent);
- Mongolia — 154 tons (0.2 percent);
- Estonia — 86 tons (0.1 percent);
- Ukraine — 43 tons (0.1 percent);
- UAE — 4 tons.
Also, a significant increase in the volume of exports to the Russian market was noted - from 14,400 tons last year to 17,200 tons in 2022, that is, by 19%.
Such a record volume of watermelon exports in the 2022 season was helped by a good harvest in Uzbekistan and the relatively low price of these products.
