Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan may soon connect new bus routes and establish a tourist bus service that would directly link the cities of the three countries.
In this regard, Uzbekistan intends to run negotiations with the neighboring republics by the end of this year, particularly on running the new regular international bus routes between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan along the routes Samarkand – Irgeli and Yangiyol - Irgeli.
The buses will also connect the Republic with neighboring Tajikistan on Yangier - Shahristan route.
In addition, by the year's end, it plans to open 200 new inter-republic bus routes.
According to parliamentary data, on average, 22 % of the population of the Republic (33% in Tashkent) uses public transport. Of the 3,447 routes opened in the Republic, 1,172 are served by buses, 305 - by minibusses, and 1,970 by Damasam vehicles.
