Uzbekistan’s income from the entry of foreign tourists from January to September increased almost fourfold (3.7 times) compared to the same period last year and exceeded $1.11bn, the State Statistics Committee has reported.
Tourism accounts for 39.3% of services exports, occupying the second position after transport services (46.9%). Telecommunication, computer, and information services (5.4%) close the top three, followed by other business services (4.3%).
The volume of exports of tourism services outpaced exports of horticultural products in the period under review ($760.2mn).
According to the agency, in January-September almost 3.6mn foreign citizens visited Uzbekistan for tourist purposes. Compared to the same period in 2021, this figure increased threefold by 2.4mn people.
By October, the number of foreign tourists had exceeded 4.19mn, of whom 51.2% were women.
